i have oced it to 3.35ghz and its running stable at 1.241volts

the idle temps are around 45c

The idle temp seems a bit high, but the load temp seems fine I usually don't let the CPU go 60C+

Reply to AKM880

how much should the load temperatures be on this cooler?

55C seems around right for a Vendetta 2.

Depends a lot on ambient temps and your case air flow. Without specifics it's like apples to oranges. Under 60C is okay from an experianced AMD user I guess.

my ambient temperature is around 30c. and the temp inside the case as reported by the bios is around 38c.

i am using ga-ma790gp-ud4h motherboard.

Phenom II X3 720 BE
OCZ Vendetta 2 cooler
OCZ OCZ3P16004GK DDR3 @ 1333
Asus M4A78T-E
Asus 4850 TOP in crossfire
OCZ ModXstream 700 W
Coolermaster Cosmos S
Sony BDUX10S Blu-Ray
HT Omega Striker

My hardware monitor in BIOS report 40C at idle, but my cores are all at 23C idle. Seriously, I am really wondering what is the matter. If the cores are at 23C, the cpu should be around the same temp. My HS is really cool. I really doubt my cpu could actually be at 40C. Anyone got a clue?

Here are my result in X4 underclocked at 1.175V

It's a normal issue when unleashing the fourth core of a Phenom II X3 720. I am running using the 4 cores and not 3.

The sacrifice is that your cpu core censors are disable... :P

Well LOL i guess thats what i get for never buying a amd chip.

LOL stupid answer, thx for redirecting me ( ;

I need to reinstall the heatsink. My motherboard temperatures don't make any sense. I am at 38C idle and I should be around 30C without overclocking since my cores run at 23C.

my core temps and cpu temps are the same and i have tried using almost all tem reading tools. there is hardly 1-2c difference.

I am almost sure now that my motherboard sensor is reporting a false cpu temperature. I use only my DTS value now.

so where is the problem?? should i reseT THE HEatsink?

If you applied one half grain rice of thermal paste, you should be alright. Reseating your HS will probably don't change anything.

Get HWmonitor and Coretemp to see your DTS temperature. Tt should be around 35C. On my motherboard, the cpu thermal sensor have gone mad and it doesn't render the right temperature.

There is no way in hell my cpu can be at 38C while the inside stand at 24C.
