I wanted to get my 360 wireless but I was stubborn to pay the $75-100 retail price for the 360's wireless adapter. I still can't wrap my head around the thought of paying that much for something like that.
I did some (regrettably) quick research and found that an MN 740 (wireless adapter for the Xbox) still works for the 360! Excitedly, I dropped the $25 on ebay and bought it. I then learned that it only worked for WEP security.
A bit more Googling discerned that there was still 1 more chance for me. I could flash the adapter to a D-Link equivalent that would work for WPA.
Unfortunately, all of these guides are 4+ years old. The links and guides are dying rapidly.
I have MSBNDownload.exe to flash the router.
I have MN740_1.00.02.0022 firmware.
I have a certain Package Catalog
I finally have Component Releases.
I loaded all of these in to MSBNDownload and attempted to execute it and I'm not certain it works.
First off, I'm very new to Vista, but this is my OS. No ways around it.
Second off, Im not sure Vista is even reading this adapter. Certainly isn't after this. It's not bricked. It's still reading signals according to my 360.
I just can't flash it.
My hopes is that I find someone who has done this and knows vista well enough to help me out.
