Amazing 3DMark06 Score!

Hi everybody :hello:

I have:

phenom II X2 550, Gigabyte GA MA 770T, 4 Gb 1333Mhz G.Skill, and an ATI Radeon HD 4850

I unlocked the cores on the CPU, so now it's a phenom II X4 B50 OC @ 3.2Ghz

CPU Stock Speed: 3.1Ghz

Settings:
CPU @ 3.2Ghz
RAM @ 1333Mhz
Graphics GPU @ 650Mhz, Graphics ram @ 1000Mhz

14108 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score: 5186
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 6449
CPU Score: 4824

Overclocked Even Higher!

Settings:
CPU @ 3.6Ghz
RAM 1333Mhz
Graphics GPU @ 700Mhz, Graphics ram @ 1.2Ghz

15730 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score: 5796
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 7205
CPU Score: 5346

Anyway, I've been trying to find scores for the original Phenom II X4 955 both @ stock speed and OC for comparison against the unlocked Phenom II X4 B50. It seems as though I keep finding scores that are in the 4200 - 4450 ranges...And my score is higher...I overclocked my CPU to 3.2Ghz for comparison reasons.
I want to compare my CPU with Phenom II X4 955.

If any one has a Phenom II X4 955 and can test it with 3DMark06, please test it and put up the scores for me, I would really, really appreciate it...Thanks... :)

More about amazing 3dmark06 score
  1. Well this post at least does make me feel better;

    AMD Phenom 9950 BE

    Settings:
    CPU @ 3.2Ghz
    RAM DDR2 @ 1066
    Graphics GPU = 9800GTX+ 1G Not OCd

    3DM06 Default Run = 14,674
    SM2.0 Score: 6,066
    SM3.0 Score: 6,201
    CPU Score: 4,719

Looks like my AMD Phenom 9950 is still hanging in there.

Couldn't get her stable to 3.6G on air cooling but heres my 3.4G 3DM06

  2. Hmm...seems like you got a nice setup.
you're lucky you can overclock that CPU as high as you did, It's the first phenom and they weren't known for overclocking well. Maybe you got lucky...

But man...I really want to see some scores of the phenom II X4 955 or 940...Thanks for your info though...
  3. damn I wish I had a a phenom II....
  4. I've not finished my 955 rig or my 945 rig as of to day. I should have my first scores for them by the weekend. I'll post as soon as i can. Althought i just finished one of my AMD Phenom II 550BE X2 rigs today and have had a chance to push it. I know your looking for the 3D mark scores of the other 2 CPU's but if this helps here are my current system spec's and scores:

AMD Phenom 550BE X2 3.1GHz running Stable @3.8GHz (I have not unlocked the other cores)
    DFI LanParty Jr 790GX-M3H5

  5. ^ nice! that 4890 definitely pulls that score up

Thank You. Took a lot of time as the work to the case was hard enough. We did every thing including the paint work our self. You can check it out if you would like. Note: the 4850 is shown in the pictures will upload the new photos to day.

Nice pics and work on your rig, you may want to consider removing the duplicate photos, it makes the slide show kinda boring.

I see you removed your HDD carriage, good move its a serious airflow blocker, do you have future plans for securing the HDD or just leave it laying in the bottom of the case?

What size fan is that Coolermaster side fan?

I've done some serious mods to my case but I do have a little more room inside mine than you do, however my compliments to you, your project shows great initiative! Ryan

I'm interested in this thread of yours because I also want to see the results you're asking for, I know posting my 9950 scores was not what you asked for but it is a viable consideration to any AMD user at this time.

I also have a Phenom II 940, however I had discovered it even OCd had some serious negativity, so I am in hopes AMD has resolved that with the 955, and thats all I have to say about that at this time.

But I'm not trying to hijack your thread. OK

If you look closely the HDD is secured to the bottom of the case using for rubber mounts with long HDD screws out of a HDD rack from an Antec P180. All the mounting holes show in the first few pic's of the striped case along with the insertion of these rubber mounts. Also thanks for looking. Also the Coolmaster fan is actually a 230mm my mistake. And sorry about the doubles but they are actually not. just shoots taken close together for my own reference.

What proceed-er and settings did you need to use to obtain the extra two cores on you setup? I know all setups are different, But just to feed my head.

Nice Setup...My CPU score as a dual core was 2674 on stock speed (3.1Ghz) I haven't tried overclocking it as a dual core...but could only get a 3.6 stable with all 4 cores, but I think that's because I need a better cooler.
Lol...I had to overclock my graphics card to full just to get a score close to yours...
Why don't you unlock the cores? You have an SB750 board...

Don't worry, you're not hijacking my thread. So what's up with your 940? Do you have scores for it? Are they at least a little better than your 9950 scores? If they are too low, maybe your motherboard is bad...

Since you have an SB750 board, there should be an option in your bios called ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) You need to set it to Auto, save changes, and exit. It should then unlock all of the cores.
If you had a gigabyte board, you would need to set EC Firmware to Hybrid and ACC to Auto, then save changes and exit. Here is some more info on unlocking cores http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/phenom-athlon-ii-x2_15.html
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-ii-x2,2324-4.html
If you have more questions, feel free to post theme up...good luck ;)
  17. You might need to update your bios to unlock cores. You should google your board to find out if you need a bios update...again, good luck...
  18. Thanks

Well it wasn't the M/B, the tests were run in the same M/B the 9950 is residing in right now, and if the 940 had come out on top it would be in that M/B instead of the 9950.

If I decide to release my discoveries I'll start a thread specifically for that purpose.

    However its already old news.

I like your scores...As I earlier posted, my CPU is the phenom II x2 550 BE. I unlocked the locked cores and now it's a phenom II X4 B50 (BE, I guess)...My CPU is 3.1 stock speed and I haven't under-clocked it.
I tested mine out on stock and OCd speeds. Stock speed is 4730, 3.2 is 4824, 3.4 is 5084, and 3.6 is 5346.
It seems as though my "home-made quad" is performing just as well as a real quad... :) Now I'm really happy, I only paid $102.99 for an around $175 performance...Thanks for your info and scores...Although I want to see some scores for the 940 and 955...Anyway, Thanx...

Looks like you ended up with a sweet deal!
Yeah, I have been impressed with my rig for what was a budget build.
I carried over everything including the 8800GTS from a previous build, bought the Gigabyte board, the 920, and 4 gig of memory from Frys earlier this year for just under $300 bills.
One of these days when I have time to tinker, I'll see if I can get it to 3.2 or maybe even 3.4.

Yeah, I did a similar thing with mine...I bought everything except the hard drive, DVD drive, and OS...ended up building it for only $400 with the rebates...Good luck with overclocking and stuff, and thanks for your info...

  36. Yeah Im sorry I dont have a good copy of 3DMARK06. The only one I have is the free version. My gamer does not acess the internet so all the 06 benchmarks I did on it yesterday were meaningless. Vantage is one haeck of a benchmark suite get it and see what you can achieve. Im going to try to hit 3.8-4.0Ghz tonight. This should be rather fun.
  37. Just ran 3D Mark again this time @ 3.8GHz on the AMD Phenom II 550 X2 and the ATI 4890 1GB @ 1000MHz Core and 1010MHz on the memory.

Still haven't tried to unlock i c...But that's a really nice score...Although I got a 15730 on my 4850 overclocked to 700Mhz GPU and 1200Mhz memory. And your 4890 is overclocked?!?! (CPU doesn't effect the overall score that much) Still, I think it's a nice score...

  41. This is before the lapping I just gave the 940, It had a serious crown, dips all the way around and high edges. I Oced a little too much last night and corrupted my file system. Im going with Win7 RC1 now. Im going to check out new temps tomorrow, after RC1 install. I forgot to mention that temp was on Thermal Take Big Water cooler which sucked. New temps will be using a Thermal Take Spin-Q. The High temp in the shot was @ full load.

  45. This thread got me going a bit so I thought that I would give it another try.

I am able to boot into windows at close to 4GHZ but I couldn't get the system to complete the benchmark at over 3.9ghz. The cpu is running at over 3.9 now, it will complete benches in everest just not 3dmark06. Maybe a little more tweeking. I do think that a AM3 MB and DDR3 ram would help with the scores as I'm sure that running an AM3 cpu on a AM2+ MB with DDR2 800 ram is some type of compromise.

To answer the question about a score with just one GPU I think that it was around 17.5k.

Actually, in 06 (I'm not as sure about Vantage), the CPU has a massive effect on overall score. Here's an example:

My setup, stock clocks on everything (3.33GHz i7 (3.33 because of Turbo, 3.2 rated), Sapphire 4870x2 CFX @ 750/900):

My setup, stock clocked GPUs, CPU OC @ 4.2GHz:

I do think that a AM3 MB and DDR3 ram would help with the scores as I'm sure that running an AM3 cpu on a AM2+ MB with DDR2 800 ram is some type of compromise.

To answer the question about a score with just one GPU I think that it was around 17.5k.

I like your scores...My CPU score at 3.2 is 4849, at 3.4 is 5084, and at 3.6 is 5346. When it's at 3.6, it's not even stable all the way (Only stable enough to benchmark)...I guess that's the drawback of unlocking...But at 3.4 it runs rock solid...haven't even tried to run it at 3.5...Anyway, thanks for your scores...
  49. Very nice scores and rig. As for the scores on the 4890 i'm pretty sure it's just a bottleneck issue on the CPU side as the higher i go with the CPU the better the GPU score. But that's a given as the idea of overclocking your CPU. But i'm seeing higher scores with the 4890 on other CPU's and system benchmarks. I can not push my CPU any higher and unlocking the other two cores has not been a success on my system as i need to lower the multiplier below the stock setting to get them to unlock. And then i can't even reach the stock speed of the CPU as it was with the other two cores locked. So no go there. I guess i'm stuck at this point. I'll start working on the other two rigs and see where they go.
