Have Corsair 1000w PSU (CMPSU-1000HX 1000W RT)..... If I go nuts and get another 4870X2 (total =2 GPU)....the Corsair gonna cut it?
Probably just wishful thinking since I just bought the PSU
If no....what level do I need 1200w, 1300w ?
Brand rec ?...Corsair and Antec do not seem to have PSU at this level. PC Power and Cooling is not modular and $$$. These are the high end brands I hear recommended.
Modular is also a must have.
Other components.......
Quad Core CPU
2 HD
2 opticals
1 Sound Card
1 Fan contoller
8 x 120 mm fan, 1 x 240 mm fan
THX!

Probably should just go with the flow and keep what came in the mail from Newegg I already did a last minute change and went from 8500 Dual Core to a 9550 Quad Core
Not even sure if I will get another 4870x2 at this point. Gonna have to buy a larger monitor (I am hearing 28-20" ) anyway to make quad Crossfire worth the effort. I do not want to have a "nuclear reactor" PSU if I do not really need it. On the other hand, I do want the room if I choose to add the second GPU.
I am not sure if I have seen any benchmarks on quad Crossfire with two 4870x2 GPU's. Any link on a benchmark for this set up?
I suspect, the FPS gain would not be that much over the one 4870x2 GPU to notice any difference.

I would think that psu can handle that setup. If not, this is a new era we are entering where the 1000 watt + psus are truly being utilized, finally...

^your only just starting to wonder if 4 gpus are overkill?
HD4870 single is more than enough for most people.
Saw the benchmarks, anyone? 4870x2 cf is not overkill in games where it performs below a single 4870x2. Quad crossfire problems. Wait for updated drivers to come out, or it's just more money for less performance.
