Same OS on 2 drives?

My OS (XP PRO) recently became corrupt and would not work properly. Instead of wiping it out I put a larger hard drive in and re-installed onto it. Can I install the old drive and try to retreive data from it or will the operating system cause a problem? Still learning. THANKS!

install the old drive as the second drive, set it to slave if it has jumpers, IDE connection.
then drag your personal files off the old drive onto the new drive.
It's OK, it will work , do it all the time.
