Quick question - what do people rate as the best software to measure CPU temp on Intel CPU's... I have used speedfan in the past, but I would rather use an app that does not have to be installed, and just runs, for example like CPUZ / GPUZ does...
First off, there is really no such thing as software being more accurate then others. They all read sensors, but just provides info in a different look.
HD Monitor is made by the same software as CPU-Z. Thing is, it shows core temps but you can't adjust any offset that I know of for the tjmax, which is needed to provide some accuracy on core temps.
CoreTemp is another program for only the cores. You can adjust the tjmax on it, but it only provides temps on the tjuction (cores). So those two programs don't need to be installed but put in a folder to run.
Now all programs need to poll the sensors, but if you run more then one at a time, it can cause an illusion that one is off from the other (one program may poll faster then the other), and can cause a totally off the wall reading since they may poll at the same time.
So regardless if you want to just dump a program on a system to see if it works, or install one, in a sense it really doesn't matter as far as what is best.
