Hey Folks

Noob question for ya, I put a Zalman CNPS9700 on my cpu, and it is the first time I have done this myself. I used thermal paste, its an Intel quad core in an appropriate mobo, I used all the Zalman parts and followed the directions to the letter.

With the cooler faced in the right direction and the clamp in place (per the directions) and the two screws in the clamp tightened firmly but not over tightened the cooler stays in place, with the mobo mounted on the side of the case. However, If I touch the cooler I am able to slide it on the paste back and forth. I left it centered on the cpu. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I assumed the cooler would be firmly in place when the screws were tight.

Thanks!

Rich

Its perfectly normal to be able to move it slightly given the way it is mounted. Its a centre pivot type pressure mount, so you can't expect the cooler to be rigidly fixed.
