And yes, it can run Crysis.

9600 gt would do it @ high i believe. 4850 definitely would. and generally these inquiries go in the Graphics section of the forums man. Good luck!

OP, what cpu do you have ?

@customisbetter, a 9600gt with my 5600x2 runs crysis at all high at 1280, but without aa. in a big firefight with smoke and explosions the aa drags down the fps.

oh my bad. My 8800gs does 1280 @ high but my memory bandwidth won't let m use any AA so i figured that the increased bandwidth on the 9600 would compensate. Thanks for the correction!
*colonel what speed is your 5600 at?

at that res, the cpu has to do some work. try OC and i guarantee your frames will increase. My OC made crysis playable.

If I wanted to play Crysis, I would look for something with a lot more "juice" than a 9600GT ?!?!?!?
For the money, the 4850 would be my first choice. If I had a little more to spend, the 4870.

^My only downside to the 9600GT is it has half the shaders of the 8800GT so I don't think it would play as well.

I would suggest the 4850 or the 4870 as they have a massive amount of shader power and so far are showing good results in Crysis and with driver updates should imrpove more.

i highly doubt a 9600GT would cut it. i have a 4850 and i cant even get super smooth framerates in crysis @1680x1050 on high. i'm going to blame this on my cpu, which is an amd, just like the OP's.

My factory OCed (650/950) 512MB 8800GT does Crysis on all high at 1440x900 with *no* GPU related slowdowns that I've seen. Of course this is without AA, but MSAA in Crysis = fail anyway (doesn't work on foliage).

fshaharyar, what CPU do you have? The benchmarks generally don't show it, but when the action gets heavy in Crysis a fast CPU helps a lot.
