Here is a "New to computer builds" question: My Zalman CNPS9700 cooler has a 3 pin power connector on it and the mobo cpu connection spot is 4 pin. There is a 3 pin fan connection within range of the zalman's connector. I was going to use that 3 pin connector for a case fan. Are there converters to make the 3 pin work on the 4 pin? Or can I clip the 3 pin on the 4 pin (it fits, I checked) or would that just be bad?

Thanks

Rich

It should work fine. The 4 pin is for the bios to control the speed of the fan.

Using a 3 pin on it, should cause it to run at full speed all the time. However if memory serves, it should have a manual fan controller anyway.
