I am building a DAW and I will be using a firewire sound card from my mixer. I have read alot about the TI chipset being the preferred firewire chipset for audio. This limits the motherboards I can choose from for onboard TI firewire chipsets. I will likely be looking at a mobo with a P45 chipset.

Which is better in terms of performance...onboard firewire or a PCIe firewire card/non firewire mobo combo?

Suggestions on a mobo or card/mobo combo would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
