Hi I am about to build my own computer and am plannning on using a SSD for games and OS and then a second Data drive for all my other programs. My hope is to put the SSD into deefreeze to prevent viruses and malicious programs. I am asking if this is a good idea or not? What are the benefits and what are the Negatives?

Are you talking about Deep Freeze? While I'd use it if I had a network of publicly-used computers to manage, I wouldn't bother in the home setting, as it will create more inconveniences for someone who uses the computer regularly, and deactivating Deep Freeze is required if you want to save any settings anyway.
