Hello y'all. I was just about to play a little TF2 when I received a windows warning message saying that it wanted to close out TF2 because it was using too much RAM. I checked task manager and it was only using up to around 2.1 gigs of RAM, this is where I noticed the issue. I am currently running vista home premium 64-Bit and 4GB of crucial ballistix ram. so why would windows start saying that I was low on RAM when it was only using half of what I have?

Here is a pic to illustrate the issue:

Normally it would show in Task manager physical memory being around 4096 MB, so why now all of sudden with no hardware or software changes to the system does it only allocate 2813 MB of physical memroy?

So I've tried to recreate the error and bring up info in event viewer and here it is:

I did turn off the virtual memory because with four gigs I had plenty for everything that I threw at it. My system had never had this issue since my last format in june and just now am I getting the memory issue. The reason why I formated was this very reason and well it fixed it but now I don't want to reformat everytime I encounter this issue. Also it is odd because in system info it shows 4 gigs of memory as well as in the BIOS it shows all 4 gigs. So I know that the physical memory is there. So why is the system not allowing all the memory to be accessed like it did previously?

Thank you for any info. In the meantime I will be researching this issue.

I had the same problem. here was my solution: hold the the windows key and press R. in the in the box that appears type in msconfig, click the boot tab, the click the advanced options button and uncheck maximum memory, click ok, and then check make all boot settings permanent, click apply and restart the computer. this fixed my problem. hope it works for everyone else.
