Left over connection on back of optical drive for?

Once again, first time build and a few questions. That being said:

What are the 10 metal pins sticking out on my optical drive (Pioneer DVR-215DBK)? I have connected the SATA and power cables, but this is still left. The instruction manual doesn’t even mention what this is for and it is not even on the diagram of the drive in it. I assume that I don’t need to worry about it, but I’m curious.

Also, I have a similar situation on my HD (Western Digital WD6400AAKS). After I connect the data and power lines, I have an 8 metal pin thing that is unused.

I guess I'm a bit confused and just want to make sure things are perfect. :lol:

It is used at the factory for configuration, don't worry about it.
