I reset BIOS to daults. BIOS shows all RAID as Disabled but boot up shows RAID Utility prompt and then Windows XP finds "RAID Controller" hardware. How do I turn off RAID?

ASUS A8N-SLI has two RAID controllers (SATA RAID based on Silicon Image, and PATA RAID based on Nvidia). You probably have to check to make sure both RAID features are disabled.

i you use the silicon image RAID make sure you use the NV gigabit port as the silicon image RAID and the marvell gigabit port are on the pci bus

Thanks for your replies. :)

I don't want to use RAID - and it's not up and running anyway.

The BIOS and Windows prompts were probably just triggered when I reset the BIOS to defaults - and maybe RAID was set to Enabled for a few seconds. Anyway, I rebooted and checked every option in the BIOS and made sure that RAID was fully Disabled - and it was. :)

BUT... I still can't get rid of the BIOS and Windows prompts. :(

Any ideas?
Thanks.

As you got two RAID controllers, you need to disable the Silicon Image controller in your BIOS as well, otherwise Windows will still find the Silicon Image RAID controller.
