I found a CPU that says 2.40 Ghz/512/533/L525V, SL6EF MALAY on the back. I also found this mobo http://eu.shuttle.com/archive/en/a [...] cificatio. I want to put the CPU into the mobo but don't know if the components would get damaged. Will the components get damaged?

and according to the link you provided for the mobo it is socket 478 also. It should be ok.

the mobo link says williamette or northwood only, but your in luck, as your cpu is a northwood..

as mentioned, should be good to go
