Sooner than the end of this year from the recent reports - more like a month or two.

I haven't followed Nehalem, but I can tell you the first ones released will be the "Extreme Editions" and will sell for over $1,000. That's Intel's tradition.

More affordable versions will probably not be available until Q1 2009 so that Intel can build up a sufficient stockpile to supply their primary vendors. No, Newegg.com is not considered a primary vendor.

------------------------------ Q9450 |Corsair XMS 4GB DDR 800 | ABit IP35 Pro | HD 5850 | Audigy 2 | Seasonic S12 550 | Cooler Master Centurion 532 | NEC LCD2690WUXi and Planar PX2611w | WinXP

Nope - they're releasing 3 models together. One is the extreme, which will sell at $1000, and clock at 3.2GHz. However, there will also be a ~$500 2.93GHz model and a ~$300 2.66GHz model. All should be available simultaneously, and in not too long.

I am predicting the exact date to be...... September 22nd 2008.

Thats just a guess. And cjl is right. Intel changed their release stratagey up a bit for Nehalem. 3 different ones all at different price areas.

I emailed Newegg asking this question. I figured this, but they wouldn't/couldn't say. I REALLY want to know! I want to start buying things as soon as I know the date. I'm hoping I'll be able to get the ~$300 CPU and a Giga-Byte motherboard soon!!!
