Hi,

I have the following configuration for a new system, and since I have little experience, I would like to get some comments and suggestions. Will all the components fit with the PC chassis I chose? Is the PSU enough?

I will be using this system mostly to run 2 virtual machines while working (programming). Gaming is not an issues, although I sometimes like to play some NHL :)

- RADEON HD 4850 512 GDDR3 HD4850 512M GDDR3 PCI-E DUAL DVI-I
- OCZ Memory 2x 2GB KIT PC3-12800 Platinum Edition, Enhanced Bandwidth DDR3 CL7-6-6-24, OCZ3P1600EB4GK
- ASUS STRIKER II EXTREME,ATX,nForce 790i SLI,FSB 1600MHz,Intel S775,4xDDR3 1333MHz,3xPCI-Ex16, C2Q
- Miditower NSK6580 Black Silver 430W ATX 2.0 PSU / 4x 5.25" ext. / 5x 3.5" int. NMS
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (2667) Quad Core, Sockel 775, Intel, 2x6MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB
- PC Power+Cooling NT Silencer 610Watt, ATX2.2, 6x SATA, 8x Molex, NVIDIA SLI Ready (2x PCI Express)
- DVD BluRay BD-6x4x HDR3x +16x8x4x -16x6x4x, SATA, LightScribe

I already have the hard disks (4), and would use the audio features of the motherboard (so, no additional audio card).

What do you think?

Many thanks.
Mike

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)

That looks a killer rig, however u can save alot of money, firs tof all do u really need SLI/CF? read the FAQ to find out the answer:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/245454-15-crossfire-faqs

Even if u need MULTIGPU,then i say go for a 780i board instead or a X38 board which use DDR2 RAM,because DDR2 is cheaper than DDR3 and the difference isn't much. My recommendation goes for a DDR2 800 RAM with 4-4-4x or lower timings.

Also definitely change the PSU to something like OCZ STEALTHXSTREAM 600W or the GAMEXSTREAM 700W model.

Well i can not comment on BlurRay because it depends on u,if u need it go for it but if not then go for a normal DVD RW,it will save u alot of money.

Let me short things up for you.
1. AMD chipsets 790, 780, 750 are SLI chipset, they are used only with SLI GPUs to gain SLI systems. SLI GPUs come from nVidia.
Intel X38, X48 are Xfire chipset. They will be used with ATI GPUs.

2. Why do you buy a case with PSU if you wanna buy an extra PSU? Coolermaster RC690, Antec 900 or 1200

3. Get a 550W (without Xfire) or 750W (with Xfire) PSU from Corsair, Tagan, Enermax, Silverstone, or Antec.

4. Get Zalman CNPS9700, Xigmatek HDT-S1283, or Scythe Orrochi.

5. P5EX38 from ASUS gives you a bundled non-onboard 7.1 HD-Audio-Card.

6. I don't recommend you to buy a blue-ray drive, it is still too expensive. Just get a PS3 if you wanna watch blue-ray movies.
