I need to be pointed in the right direction on where to go and tinker with the fan speed control...I can't find it in here where some of the experts advised that the high heat problem was due to the fan speed not being run right and it could be manually fixed....

Otherwise this card is awesome for the money...after not trying any games due to the old pc getting arthritis in it's joints...this things on viagra...

Around 40% seems to be the sweet spot.
Any faster and it gets loud fast.

My Asus card came with SmartDoctor. I set mine to 60% when gaming. It is not that loud. 40% is prob safe when idle. I tried to set it on auto but it got annoying hearing the fan throttle up and down every 10 seconds so I just set it on manual.

Did you make sure to

Quote :

Make a profile in catalyst after turning on Overdrive and make sure clock and memory settings are correct.

?

The .xls file created will have the same name as the profile you just created.
The lines you will be interested in are:

<Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Manual" />

and

<Property name="Want" value="40" />

When they are done being edited, they should look like the above.
The number in the second line is the percentage of maximum fan speed.

Sheez it looks so easy.

I'm sure I did the profile procedure the same way, and I had enable overdrive checked .

I'll have to try it again tonight.

This is frustrating .I've followed the guides and also copied exactly what the guy in the youtube clip does but I still get the same info in the xml file and it hasn't got any info to change any settings that look anything like the xml file the guy opens up.This is all I see in that xml file.
