I'm trying to load bios 1502 onto the Asus M2N-E systemboard to support a newer cpu I'm getting. After loading the new bios the system reboots and never come back. No display, nothing. But if I pull the Promise Raid ex8350 PCI-Express x 4 card from the slot the system boots fine. Then I have to reload the old 802 bios, put the card back in and the system boots. Any idea why this happens with any bios over 802. I've tried other bios later than 802 and it does the same.

I have also loaded the latest bios and firmware for the Promise card.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

If your Promise Raid ex8350 has the latest BIOS, you should report the issue to both Asus and Promise.

After you install the new BIOS, reset the CMOS. There should be instructions on how to do that in your manual. What can happen is your old saved settings are not compatible with the new BIOS and it acts like the system is overclocked and won't boot.

^+1 for clearing CMOS. Easiest way is to remove battery for ~2 minutes.

I also agree with the cmos clearing. However, what about clearing the cmos, then trying trying to boot to the bios, make sure it posts, then shut down, install the card, and see if it boots?
