Hello all. I've been doing some informal testing of different cable types to see if it really makes any difference when copying files using Gigabit Ethernet. In my test environment, all of my cables are 15' or less in length. What I've found is that it doesn't seem to make any difference what cable I use. Any cable combination seems to max out at 23.5 megabytes per second.

Is anybody else getting different results?

Do the same test on a 280' cable and you will probably see a difference between Cat 5 and Cat 6. Cat 5e is all around just as good as Cat 6

The difference in price is minimal, what bother with anything else but CAT6?

23.5 MB max on a gigabit network? That's too slow. I think the bottleneck is not the cable but probably your HD.
