I have a GE Force 7300GS with 512MB and a ATI 1550X with 256MB.

Which one is better? I don't know much about graphics cards. My girlfriends laptop just went down and I installed WOW on one of my machines. I want to put the best graphics card in the machine that has it.

Thanks, JOe K.

I have these same two cards running in 2 different machines right now. From my experience, the x1550 is faster. My system with the x1550 128mb @ 560/980, X2 4200+ 2.2ghz, 2gb ddr2 800 CL5 scores 1350 in 3dmark06. My system with the 7300GS 256mb @ 640/650, e2200 @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb ddr2 800 CL4 scores only 900 in 3Dmark06. So, go with the x1550.

What card would you guys recommend for video editing (which really doesn't rely on a card) and casual gaming for less than 150 at newegg?

Thanks,
JOe K.

If you can stretch about $20 more then you could get a 4850 which is a very good card that will last you ages for gaming and vid editing.

Any suggestions for an Nvidia equivalent. It may work better for a Hackintosh

The 1550X is now making a loud noise from the fan! I blew it out with air duster and it's still loud.

It's definitely time for a replacement. Will the 4850 be a quiet solution?

What cards to people recomend between 130 - 180?

4850
or the 9800GTX (i would try to get the 9800GTX+)
the 9800GTX/GTX+ has dual slot coolers so it'll be slightly cooler than the 4850.

I found out I needed 2 cards as both of them were very loud. That changed my budget a bit.

I ordered this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x [...] 6814129100

and this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x [...] 6814130332

which one performs better? I'll put that in my better machine?
