Hi all
I have a HP Compaq 17" TFT - FP7317.

When I push the power cord in and press the power on button, the screen is very nearly black, there is a very faint tick sound and the screen blackens even more completely (powers off completely), the led goes out and then on again and the cycle continues.

It looks like the light is flashing slowly, but I think it is a power failure, followed by a restart, followed by failure...., etc.

I have taken the screen apart and all connections are secure.
There was some slight black dusting on the plastic cover of one of the circuit boards, but I could not see any external damage to the components.

Any ideas or pointers to possible fixes - or is it time for the bin.

many thanks
