Im getting a constant error message ( as in title of thread ) and would appreciate any comments or help .

The text in the error message says : The driver detected a controller error on \device \ harddisk0 \D.

Now here's where im confused . I have a backup HDD labeled D\ , which is not usually connected to the Mobo and as such the CDROM gets labeled D . The CDROM has been playing up recently so my question is this . . .

Is it the unconnected HDD or the dodgy CDROM that is causing the error message ?

Most likely the dodgy CD-ROM. Try disconnecting it from your motherboard and see what happens.
