microphones

i cant get my mike to work on windows xp ive checked and unchecked a few boxes
in sounds and audio devices but to no avail anybody got any ideas please

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. In the Search box type: MICROPHONE , and hit enter.
3. Then click on "Set up a microphone".
