I want to get rid of my recovery part of my HDD because 1. I need the extra space and 2. Theirs nothing in it,

is this how I would go about getting rid of it?

Are you sure you want to do that, just for 8.5GB extra space? Is that really going to make a difference?

But yes that would delete the D partition, then you have to right click C and select Extend Volume, making it grow to actually use the extra space. Of course, you would have a backup of all important files before you commit to this.

It's only needed if you want to reinstall the operating system. It includes driver you may not have on CD and deleting the partition might cause you to lose any ability to reinstall your operating system and drivers - at least in a way that's legal.

Personally, i would just leave it there, the space gain is minimal and might not be worth the trouble. Once you need to reinstall you need that partition.
