Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew whether my motherboard is compatible with core 2 duo processors and if not whether it is worth upgrading to a Pentium D 945 (3.4ghz)
I'm currently running a Pentium 4 (old i know) @ 3.3 Ghz and was wondering if it's worth it. (estimated performance increase?)
I also have doubts as to whether it's compatible with the Pentium D processor, any help would be much appreciated.

this is my current configuration:

Foxconn 945P7AA Intense Series Motherboard
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz @ 3.3 (Stock cooler)
2GB DDR2 Ram (1gb, 512mb, 256mb, 256mb)
250gb generic sata HDD
xfx 8800gts 320mb (stock)
600w Generic PSU
xp home 32bit
3dmark06- 5,703
I've spotted a second hand Pentium D 945 for £55 which is why i'm suddenly curious.

i'm also open to suggestions on how i could squeeze more out of my system, i'd like to add that i'm only 15 so am on quite a tight budget.

Thanks in advance
