I'm planning to get a E8400 Intel processor and a nVidia GTX 260 video card. Now I'm trying to determine which motherboard to get. I've been thinking of picking up a ASUS P5N-D but I keep hearing good things about the P45 chipset. I may want to get another GTX 260 in the future and use them in SLI. Do I have to stick with a nVidia chipset like the 750i or 780i to do this?

well yes to be able to scale to an SLI solution you will have to buy a mobo with an sli compatible chipset.
Actuallt the only SLI compatible chipsets are Nvidia models and exeption of the Intel Skulltrail Motherboard, and soon to arrive X58 intel chipset

Check out the EVGA 750i FTW. I believe it has full 16x/16x SLi and its only around $170.
