I would get a SATA DVD Drive.

Take an HD 4850 as your video card.

Pass on the Raptor X and get that 640GB hard drive. It's one fast hard drive.

Consider a 650W Corsair power supply.

Your system looks great!!!

- Agree about getting a SATA DVD drive

- That is a deal on the 8800GTX but the 4850 is newer and may be the better choice.

- I would personally save some money and just forget about the raptors - I think a normal SATA drive would be the better way to go.

- Keep the OCZ Power Supply

Overall very nice!!! and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

That monitor has only 8ms response time. For gaming, you'll want 5ms or better.
There are lots of choices out there, and many of the panels are made by the same company anyway, but you might like this 2ms response, 22" Samsung, for $300 after MIR:

There is ALWAYS a drone. Exactly where, or how many drones you will encounter may vary, but that there will be at least one will not.

If you write the names of the parts near the links you'll make it easier for people to help you.

Check out the GA-EP43-DS3L, it has PCI-E 2.

8800GTX at $190 is a great deal, if you trust this friend. If in doubt, get a HD 4850. 8800GTX, 9800GTX, and HD 4850 are all very close, with HD 4850 winning some benchmarks.

Get a WD6400AAKS instead of that old Raptor.

Get a SH-S203N and you won't have to deal with IDE cables and jumpers.

TigerDirect is selling 9800GTX for $199. Your friends 8800GTX has just got expensive.
Also, your mobo is Intel and both GTXs are nVidia, preventing you from SLI/CF in the future.
If you have plans for multiple video cards, you either change your mobo or (preferably) change your video cards.
Should you stay with Intel chipsets, +1 for aevm.
