Will Windows 7 native backup work with external raid?

Forum Storage : NAS/RAID Will Windows 7 native backup work with external raid?

Hi All,

I currently run a DNS-321 NAS enclosure, but Windows 7 will only backup to a network location if it is windows based (or so the online help said). I am sure that the eSATA raid enclosures are also linux based, but I am wondering if Windows 7 will back up to it because it is interfaced through eSATA rather than Samba. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Dan O.

Depends on the partition format of the hard disk.
Check the format with a partitioning program.

Thanks evongugg- are you saying that the partition needs to be NTFS for Windows 7 to use it for backups?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Either NTFS, FAT32 or FAT will work.
EXT2 and EXT3 will work with a driver.

iSCSI will work with an Initiator driver.
