Is this feasible???? I have a building on my property about 1000 feet from my home that I would like to put a desktop PC in and network it wirelessly to my home cable connection. I'm confused about the range I'll be able to get out of a wireless setup. I have no obstructions between the buildings and was thinking of using one of those can-type antennas. Anyone else have success with this type of setup at ~1000 feet??? I searched these boards and most of the posts relate to indoor setups, not line-of-sight.

1000 feet is not a long shot with the right antennas. Making your own is a dice roll. Their are some "cantennas" that are being pseudo-professionally made now. For 1000 feet, 7-9 dBi yagi's (cantennas are yagis) or parabolic would be fine. That is assuming very little to no loss on the transmission cable run and connnectors or pigtails and connectors.
