My Vx battery is on its last legs and am looking at the Tungsten E.
How do I transfer the data from one to the other? The Vx uses Palm OS
3.5 and the Tungsten E, a later OS. Am using a Macintosh G4, and wonder
if I use the same user name for both, first time I try and sync the
Tungsten, will the data go to it? And should I use the same software on
my Macintosh, or install the new software that will come with the
Tungsten? I am confused and have found no one (no salesman) that can
help me.
TIA
jeff

Best not to talk to salesmen!

I don't use a mac, but did upgrade from a Vx to a TE. You'll want the new
desktop software because it uses the new Palm OS5 features, like photos,
multiple addresses per contact etc. The way I did it was to export archive
files from each of the four palm applications, making sure to export all
records, not just the currently selected one! Copy the whole palm folder as
well for safety. Then install the new software as if it were your first
palm, and then import the archive files you made and your new data will be
in place.

I recommend www.brighthand.com for extra advice regarding software, conduits
etc!

I upgraded from a Handspring Visor Edge to the T/E. I upgraded synced the
Visor, upgraded the desktop software and synced the T/E. Pain-free. I was on a
Windows 2000 platform.
