has anyone confirmed an online retailer (newegg, mwave, newbiz, etc...) that is selling the new e8500 E0 stepping (SLB9K) processors?

I am rebuilding my new PC and have everything but the processor and mobo at this point. My new system will look like:

Need:
Intel e8500
Asus Rampage x48 mobo

Have:
Antec 900 case
Xigmatek HDT 120mm CPU cooler
4gb (2x2gb) OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 Cas 4 latency
twin HD4870's for crossfire
Rosewill 850w (80+ eff) PS
2 hd's, dvd burner, etc...

I'm also waiting for newegg to throw that Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 sound card on sale for $56 again...I didn't quite jump on it last time.

Online retailers are way more difficult to know what stepping you are going to receive. They may have stock of their old stepping and will likely send that out before the new. Generally they don't list what stepping they're selling either.

I suppose you can always try to contact their sales and make a request.

According to Intel there isnt much difference between the C0 and E0 anywho... Slightly higher Thermal Spec on the E0 (72.4 compareed to 74.1)

I suppose you're right...maybe I should just buy the cpu & mobo now. Do you guys think the price will drop much when Nehalem hits the market? I don't suspect much of a price drop at all considering the price it's at now.

lol!

of coarse not - intel does not want all the distributors sending back the old junky stuff!

the fact is 45nm can not take the voltage like the 65nm due to hafnium gates needed for nehalem, the better thermal profile and votlage regulation allows higher voltage for stablity with real world usage - i not talking running orthos here!

E0 allows higher oc
