Hi all, im looking for a ram recommendation

I'm looking at putting together a rig with an e8400, a MSI p45 platinum, and a HD4870.

The mobo support ddr2 800, 1066, and 1200. But is the "fastest" frequency the best way to go?

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=P45_Platinum&class=mb

I won't be overclocking initially, but after some practice on my old rig I would like to try OCing the new.

I appreciate any insight.

I've never noticed anything between the memory speeds that calls for the extra money. Unless you are video editing, it doesn't do as much. I've never noticed a difference in speed between my transition from DDR2-800 to DDR2-1066 (temporarily, at least).

DDR2-800 seems to be the 'sweet spot' right now for price/performance ratio. You can get 2GB(2x1GB) for about $40, which isn't that bad.

In using AMD and especially my Crosshair mobo - i have had nothing but trouble with the OCZ 8500 ( 1066 ) SLI-Ready Ram. And since i have 4gbs of it i am truly regretting not going for the 800ddr2...
