Hi

My current setup consists of an Asus M2n-E Socket AM2 board with an AMD X2 3800+ CPU running XP Pro.

I want to make the change to intel quad core setup and was wondering if its necessary to reinstall the OS?

Reason being is that i have a little complex setup consisting of 4 HD's in a dual boot setup as i use one for general use and the other XP for music production, and i really would not want to go through the reinstall process again.

Usually it is necessary, unless the components are very similar. On installation, Windows install key drivers for system buses that you tend to not notice when actually using the computer.

There is one option, if you are fairly experienced... it's not definite, you might still end up re-installing. Let me see if I can find the article...
