Building a nas raid 6 at my house to store all my photoshop work and whatever else i please.

just bought 3 of these http://www.westerndigital.com/en/p [...] anguage=en guys, i have a 4th at my house and im getting an adaptec 5405 raid card to follow suite.

i need to find a computer case that can house all that + a mobo/cpu/ram with adequate cooling for the drives. Its going to get mounted on a wall in my basement. I'm not looking for rack mount cases as I do not have space for a rack =p

I'm all for water cooling if anyone sees a decent case that could incorporate h2o in the future.

Still looking for a mobo cpu and ram too if anyone has suggestions.

Been looking around and was thinking of pairing this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811166030 with a sata backplane, but damn those sata backplanes are expensive

Antec 300 for a case, as to the board cpu and ram you really don't need to get all high end with what you want to do.
Now if you are going to use windows home server you will want to get enough power for that, If GNU/Linux you can do with less.
For a raid 6 I would say to get a total of 5 drives just to be extra safe.
4GB of ram will suit you. DDR2 5,5,5,15 will work just fine.
CPU and Board weather Intel or AMD go with the middle of the market,
and low on power use as it will be on all the time.

Look at a board in the $75 to $100 range.
I like DFI for Intel and Biostar for AMD.

ill take your advice on the antec 300.

im a windows guy so ill be sticking to windows server or home server.

Not sure if it would need 4 gigs, i feel like 2 gigs will suffice. Either way its pretty cheap

im spending most of my budget on the HDD's and the raid card. so im trying to keep everything else minimal for now.
