Seems like a nice concept. Does anyone think 2nd dedicated psu for graphics is a good idea for upgrading, instead of just replacing the old smaller psu? Have anyone used this before?

might as well get a new PSU since products like this Corsair 750W only go for $20 more.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&Tpk=corsaid%20750w

and you get so much more for your money.

If you use a large case that has positons for dual PSU's like those I use then you only need a $6.99 dual PSU connector.
All it does is turn on the 2nd supply when you power up the computer.

Now if you had bought two of the PC Power & Cooling 610's from NewEgg last month when they had them onsale with free shipping for $80 each...you would have 98 Amps of -constant rated- 12 Volt power for only $160 USD!

At some point past mainstream, it becomes far more expensive to get a higher level psu. The price difference between 1000w and 1200w is far more than 300w and 500w. Besides, there is little sense replacing my current 850w psu with a 750w one.

It would require a new case though, an atypical one with hardpoints for 2 psus. Sounds expensive. Besides, changing a case is more like complete disassembly and rebuild, could take some work. :p
