Despite the mixed reviews, it was time to get off this old AMD Athlon XP 3000+ system and get with the new stuff. I'm going with the Phenom 9850 on an Asus M3A-32 MVP Deluxe, w/ 2 GB Crucial DDR2 1066 RAM. Going to use an 8800 GTS 512MB vid card.

I've got a 450Watt power supply which is fairly new laying around, would this be fine for this system? Won't be a problem to go get another one, but while I'm waiting for this all to be delivered I might as well find out. I don't plan on overclocking (at least for awhile), so I was hoping I could just use this this ps. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

What's the 12v rail ampage, and wattage routed to 12v rail?

I believe these are the stats, not sure exactly which would be what.

Mad Dog MD-450WPS
+3.3V = 22A
+5V = 45A
+12V =20A, 240W
+3.3V & +5V = 213W
+3.3V & +5V & +12V =430W
-12V = 0.8A, 9.6W
-5V = 0.5A, 2.5W
+5VSB = 2.0A, 10W
-12V & -5V & +5VSB = 22W

It's quite low. Could work though. Since you already have it, might as well try it. If it becomes unstable during stress, change out the psu.

Thanks for the info, if it boots and works I'll save me a couple bucks I guess :wahoo: . I don't want to make another thread, but considering this system is A LOT newer than my current, what should I use for an OS. I'm unsure of these 64-bit versions of XP and Vista, I have 32 XP on the Athlon XP 3000+ and 32 Vista on my Presario Turion 64 X2 2.0ghz laptop... I don't game as much as I used to, but I want what will work.
