I have an HIS Radeon HD2600PRO ICE-Q Video Card with a factory overclocked memory clock and core clock (650 core / 1050 "effective" memory clock). While digging through the ATI Catylist control center, i found ati overdrive over clocking utility. When i went in there, it gave me a warning that over clocking the video card may mess up my pc. So here's the question:

Can I overclock the card without messing up my pc? I have one 120mm rear exhaust fan, and the video card has the ice-q cooler on it (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161098). I also have the stock cpu cooler on my e7200, and no other air flow. With this config, is it recommended to over clock the video card? Thanks for your suggestions.

those warning is just manufacture try to scare you off getting more from your graphics card so if you want more you have to pay more thats the idea behind it.

it wont messup your computer.all it can really do if anything DO go wrong just a freezed up OS all you need to do just press reset on your PC and you are back on earth.

dont worry too much just do it. OVERCLOCKING FTW!!!

yes!if its unstable it will just freeze up nothing bad will happen.

someone on the newegg website said in his review that he overclocked the card using the "auto tune" utility and screwed up his card. is this possible. also, how can i test my overclocking settings for stability?

you should always manually OC not Auto Tune ****. loop 3dmark overnight when you decide to stay at a certain OC level.

My personal advise?

stay away from "autotune" apps. No matter who makes ém, i'll never trust them.

Get a proper oc'util in which you are able to punch in the numbers your self. Incresase clock speeds with 5MHz increments and when it's getting unstable, lower it by 1 (or 2) steps and you'll be fine.

Be sure to test thoroughly and keep temps in check. If you don't go to crazy, you'll be fine.

On www.guru3d.com you can obtain all sorts of overclocking and benchmarking utils.
