Thoughts? Good deal? Better to go with 4850?

Most likely better to go with the 4850, it has been seen for under $150 after rebate.

Price is pretty good, but unless you are adding a second for SLI, an HD4850 looks like a better buy.

Go with the HD 4850. It's faster.

It's also cooler. I was just talking to somebody yesterday who said his HD 4850 was at 62 degrees under load. My 8800GTX was at 72 degrees while just surfing the Web. :(

hd 4850 cool? ive heard only one person say that his was cool, and it was on TH... i wouldn't agree with the cool part, unless you were getting one with a third part cooler

Hey :hello:,

The 9800GTX is on sale at Tigerdirect.com for $179.99 after rebate (priced at 229.99). I would check that out because it's newer :).
If you are not biased to NVIDIA, I would definately go with a 4850; especially hearing that NVIDIA just stopped production of chipsets :o.
My thoughts are that Intel Chipsets will not support SLI (with bugs fixed) for a little while.

Best of luck.

Seems like it isnt worth it then. I had a feeling especially because I have an X48 mobo so I can do crossfire.

Thanks
