How important is the I/O shield?

I got a new motherboard just the other day and it didn't come with an I/O shield. I still put it in though, But I was wondering it the I/O shield has anything to do with grounding and if I might have a potential problem on my hands... I dont know how to get an I/o Shield for it though.

It was an open box motherboard, I know I said new but that wasnt very correct...

I'm just trying to decide if the ground aspect is going to be an issue. If it is I might just return it and buy a different motherboard...I'm having a hard time overclocking it anyway... something tells me an asus p5n-d isnt made for this...

I don't think its a huge issue. I've had a barebone box lying around my house for a few years now that is missing its I/O shiled and I've never had any issues with it.
