I'm looking to pick up cheap parts while the deals keep coming. I was wondering if there will be any requirement changes when Nehalem comes around?
More specifically should I pick up the Antec TPQ-1000w and a Antec P182 case for $280 as a combo deal and wait for Nehalem? the PSU sells for about $220 itself, seems like a huge deal even though i won't really need 1000watts. Or will there be changes in PSUs following nehalem?

Im sure you can do with less of a psu but if you are planning on going SLI or crossfire with the big boy cards then you will have plenty of growing room. If you have a wallet thick enough to build a system to utilize that kind of a psu then go for it...
awesome, i'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow unless something comes up.
i'm not planning to build my comp until nehalem drops, but this deal seems too good to pass up on. 220 PSU+p182 = i'm paying 60 bucks for a P182 case.
i'm probably not gonna utilize all that power, but the price is right? haha
i could settle for a TPQ 850w+p182 for 20 bucks cheaper...but 20 bucks for 150 more wattage to futureproof is kinda nice.
If you're hunting for good deals, that's a good one right there. I would suggest that when it arrives at the very least you test it, just to make sure it's working. You don't want to have a nasty surprise 6 months down the road.
1000w is most likely overkill, Nehalem should not require more power and should require less. Also unless there is a change in the slot interface, GPUs wont be getting any more power hungry. Don't forget the new Sata III HDD are supposed to require less energy, and DDR3 already requires less. That said you are getting one great deal, a great case and a great PSU. The only thing that you might want to consider is getting a case with better cooling. You can get this new kick a$$ Antec 1200 killer case:

Then you can get any PSU you want to and buy another for dual PSUs in the future if needed, it will either save you money or allow you to end up with better power system and an insanely cool case.
wow that is a pretty sexy case haha...
but i'm actually looking for a subtle/quiet case that doesn't scream gamer lol
the p182 will have a total of 5 120mm fans after i'm done with it...i'm pretty sure that's sufficient lol.
plus it has a psu chamber, seems pretty perfect to me
i heard nehalem won't be available mainstream until Q3 2009 because of demand... they won't have enough by the end of the year, so they 'll keep them held, wouldn't be surprised cause thats's what they did with the 45nm lineup
