I have a problem with my acer laptop( 3 years old xp installed) it does not recognise the hard drive thats installed ,been into bios and it doesn't show any hard drive so i can't boot up.
any help appreciated

I would shut it down, remove the battery and if the HDD is easily accessible, I would remove it and reinstall it and then power it up and see what happens.

I'm newer around here, so that may not be the answer, but it's what I would try first.

From what you described, your drive is probably dead or your motherboard is a problem (hard drive controller failure or connection). From my own experience, this is usually a drive's issue, not motherboard.
Check your drive using some external USB enclosure to make sure your drive is good.
