hi,
i got a psu, brand is sunbeamtech, for free. im not putting it into my computer, because i have corsair psu.
so i thought since usb ports are 5V, i might be able to make ipod charger with this psu.
i know how to turn on the psu without mobo, (just connect green and black wire.)
in this psu, red is 5V Yellow is 12V and Orange is 3.3V
can i connect 5V (red and Black) to Ipod USB wire? ( i know which of those four are + and - for power 5V in USB)
has anyone tried it?

It's a safety thing. I can't find any data for the iPod's charging current to suggest what rating of fuse to use. You may feel confident enough in your wiring ability and the overcurrent protection of the PSU to not use one.
If you wire an ammeter (multimeter set to measure amps) in series with it while it's charging, see what the current is and multiply that by 2, then round up the value to whatever fuse rating is available, you will have a reasonable value for it. Or try a 1A fuse and if that blows immediately and you are sure there are no wiring faults then use a 2A fuse. The specs for USB say 500mA max at 5V.
