Free space error

One of MY Drive partition in the Hard disk reporting wrong free space. I have almost 12 GB free in that partition but it is only showing less than 2 GB . What will be the problem? I am Using Windows XP home edition. I tried scan disk. but no use. please help me.

Run "chkdsk /f" on that drive. If it's a system drive, it will require a restart to do the scan.
