Right I am building a Computer for a friend of mine.
He is a hardcore gamer and works in the film industry. His main area is Editing so he will be using AVID, Final Cut, Etc...

Now I know gamer computers are good full stop (Multitasking, gaming, and work)

I have two specs. One is the one he found out but very expensive, and my spec which is expensive but not as much.

Now, in my spec I haven%u2019t chosen any motherboard yet I still don%u2019t know which one really!
As you can see what I have tried to do is copy my friends spec by using other brands etc%u2026

What I need is an opinion from people who think what each system needs changing or what parts can go to the different systems etc%u2026

Well I hope you can help me below are the two systems!

Triple cards is just retarded for gaming, nothing can use them all that well. As for editing ..is he really going to need 6 monitors ?

why not wait 2 weeks and go triple 4870x2 ?

If he's editing, I'd go with 8 gigs (4x2 gig sticks)

Lol I told him the same.
about the graphics hahaha.
but yes I think to wait is better, will do more research on that aswell.
thank you for that will look at it see what I can do

If he is editting, I would mind the noise level. 3 Noisy VGAs will give him hell to work with audio. Also, I would go 8GB RAM, and I really don't know about triple VGAs. Sounds like too little bang for a huge buck.

Indeed indeed.
I mean he knows nothing of this staff
and my knowlage as you can see is very limeted too!
but on the noise front the computer's case will help

if it was me i would get 2 4870 i think 3 is a little much and go with the intel processor much better then a phenom.

don’t do a nvidia board!!! they are very unstable and if you don’t have much experience it will give you a bad headache

i would try to go for a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional. This card is new they cleared up the issues with having 4 or more gigs of ram. just make sure you a pcie slot open

i would get 8 gigs of ram

motherboard

ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard $280
ddr2 board slightly slower memory but much cheaper
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131284

a good ddr3 board is hard to fined under 300
GIGABYTE GA-X48T-DQ6 LGA 775 DDR3 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard $310
ddr3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128330

or

top quality
ASUS P5E3 PREMIUM/WIFI-AP @n LGA 775 DDR3 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard $370
ddr3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131276

these are all good board that do crossfire and im guessing since that you picked out 3 gtx280 and a intel extreme processor that money is no object

i wouldn’t get a extreme edition processor there way overprice just get a cheaper processor and oc it these mother board will do it well

indeed your are right price it not an object this guy has no problem with that.
i only wish i had that kinda £££$$$

I thought AMD was or is a better Processor for gaming computers.
i know the Phenom had some problems at the biginning but they are fixed now.

also i would of thought seen that ATI and AMD are one in the same t would be a better choice to stick the both together.

Thank you for the list and links will continue researching.

Again thank you all
