Problem installing service pack 2 on windows xp
Last response: in Windows XP
I reinstalled windows xp and when i got done i went to windows update to install service pack 2 it installs with no errors then when i restart it goes to the black screen with the safe mode,safe mde with network ect. i can't back on to windows unless i uninstall service pack 2 i never had this problem before.

It's best to slipstream SP2 and 3 on to a CD with all the files from your XP CD and install an up-to-date system in one piece. Even then you'll need over 75 updates when it gets going. There may have been a flaw in the download you had and you'll probably get teh same problem if you try it again.

I went there and it showed:
Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

It is best to apply the windows XP SP2 or SP3 from a disc not from the net. I have tried downloading the SP2 and SP3 before and burn it on disc and it works.
