I'm interested in buying a 4870. My power supply, while being a 550 watt/35 amp one, only has one 6 pin pci-e power connector.

Would it be alright to use a converter from two molex connectors to a 6 pin connector for the second one? Or would this cause instability?

This is my power supply. I know Rosewill is considered poor quality, but it seems fairly solid to me, and I think it should work. As long as the converter is an okay idea.

I think I'm going to try it with this power supply first, and if I have problems get a new one. But I just wanted to get your guys opinion first.

Ok, that sounds good then. I just wasn't sure if it was a bad idea, because of different power cables using different rails within the power supply or whatever... Like it might not use the 12V rail because it's the wrong cable. I just don't know too much about power supplies, so I wasn't really sure.

But I thought it would be fine, and your answer has confirmed that. Thanks for your help.
