Not enough info. Do you plan to overclock the cpu and how much? Do you game more or work more on the pc?

Gaming: E8400
Multitasking: Q6600

Q6600 and OC it. Will be fast enough for your gaming and you have the extra cores in photoshop. Though its still a tough choice considering how high/easy the wolfdales overclock

Most of the Core2's overclock pretty well I think, so just go with a mid-range one and OC it.

For gaming you're always better of spending extra cash on a decend GPU

I'd pick the E8400.

Photoshop uses 4 cores only in a couple of areas that are typically used in benchmarks, and you end up with misleading benchmarks. In real life, either Q6600 or E8400 will be limited by the hard disk and won't work at 100% and you'd get exactly the same speed with any of them.

If you run lots of other things in the background while gaming then get the Q6600.

thanks for all the replies :)
Well when i game i really dont open any apps in windows,my main task as i said is gaming an PS. i worry about that does the next version of PS benefit from QuadCore?

Also unfortunately the GO stepping isnt availabe here so i will be limited with OC'ing and Q9450/9550 are very expensive and cost alot here.

So i think i will go with E8400 or E8500 because the difference between these 2 is only $20.

Any other ideas?

You don't have to have G0. Very few stores guarantee the cpu stepping. B3 can be o/c'ed. 3Ghz is child play.

I know it can be OC'd but G0 OCs better right?

Right, but it's not a big difference.

i know it isnt a big difference and i think i can get 3.0GHZ or higher with the B3 stepping, also i think the next verion of PS will like more cores :) so i think i will go with Q6600,what is your idea?
