hi everyone,
I'm just about to purchase a mobo & cpu (AMD 6000+64) and (xfx nforce chipset). I am checking out some brand name DDR-2 ram.

I am came acloss some brand names like Asus, kingston, ocz, corsair, patriot, hynix, pny, team, gskill, transend!

I can get 2Gb 800mhz stick from kingston for example for under $70 AU

What would be the best brand to buy for 2Gb! Would the faster the ram i get ,would this open up my cpu and mobo and videocard!

in other words would a 2Gb 1333mhz stick make the system run faster compared to a 2Gb 800mhz stick !!!!

here is my local store to buy ram:

http://www.bttech.com.au/memory-c-131.html

I want to spend around $70-$100 on ram

The faster memory definitly makes the system faster. Yours is a amd so i think amd likes tight timings more than speed, and intel chips like faster speeds. That link to your local store the prices seem kinda on the high side if you ask me. I would get a 1000mgz or 1100 mgz 2gb kit at 5-5-5-15 or lower. Memoryc.com has alot of memory choices and so does newegg, with better prices. There is a kit on memoryc.com that is ddr-2 1000 mgz and runs at 4-4-4-12, which is tight timings and sells for $74 cant beat it, it is made by cellshock, and i heard it overclocks pretty well so you could probally get around 1175-1200 mgz at 4-4-4-12 out of it, and that is about as good as ddr-2 gets.

thanks mike for your info. I sort of have to buy locally as you can understand of the stock market crash and all, its cheaper for me at this time .It looks like the kingston would be the most ideal for me as you say its the timings more than speed for amd.

I''ll keep fishing around to get more info thanks again
