Hey all.

I have a MSI 975x platinum powerup editon. I did a reformat of windows. When the reformat was done. The Bios check takes at least 10 minutes to get into the windows load screen. Before the reformat was done it would only take at most 50 seconds. The check sometimes hangs at detecting drives. It always takes a really long time to check the DMI pool. So i dont know whats going on with the BIOS. Ive updated the BIOS as well to the latest version. Still no affect. So right now i dont have a clue as to what i should do. This happened after i reinstalled XP. I was thinking about trying to reinstall XP again but now I cant. The option would come up to boot from cd by pressing any key, but when i do nothing happens. Im also dreading doing the reinstall again. Seeing as i think it would be really slow to reinstall. If anyone has any ideas as to whats going on with my rig id be greatful. Thanks in advance.

Oh yea. The comp is on default. I have no type of overclocking going on what so ever.

Check your bios and be sure your hardrive setting is "ide". Also, if you have more than one drive, be sure the jumpers on the ide drive are correct. I use "master" or "slave", not cable select.

+1 o1die. If that doest not work pickup a new cable, you could have a bad cable.

So are you guys saying that its not a bios problem but something hardware. Like a harddrive problem. I want to try and narrow the possibilities down. So I have a place to start checking.
